Ooops! Apparently you can put the notes onto the chart...you just have to know what buttons to push. Maybe I should check out the instructions? Nah...that wouldn't be any fun :-)

6 - Now for the Notes
Since I'm still working on the easy stuff, I checked out the notes. Easy enough, but I was a bit disappointed when the note I wrote about IBM didn't show up on the chart itself. I was hoping at least for some kind of reference to the note placed on the chart on the date the note was written. I like to be able to look at a chart and see when I wrote notes.

5 - First Workspace
I have successfully created my very first workspace...I called it...guess what..."my workspace". You can see that I have added quite a few different types of charts, each of which must be clicked on at the bottom of the workspace or you can click on the arrows at the top right in order to go from one chart to the next (It did take me awhile to figure this part out...)
4 - Issues
I guess sometimes it takes a few minutes to get all the data to travel from Australia to Florida via wherever...

3 - More Easy Stuff
So, I am still working on easy stuff, like changing colors, backgrounds, chart styles, etc. Since I like to have the background of my charts black, I changed that by clicking on the "colors" icon under the "charts" tab.
I also like to use candlestick charts, so I changed the type of chart displayed by clicking on the "Chart Type" icon. I also changed the colors of the candles to green for upticks and red for downticks.

2 - Downloaded Beyond Charts
BeyondCharts Data Downloader |
Well, I spent time over the weekend downloading the BeyondCharts software. It took about an hour to update everything including the data. It gave me all US stock data, which was good as I was not sure that's what I was going to get. But, once up and running I checked out the software...blind (without any tutorials) and for the most part it was very intuitive. It has the Microsoft windows panels look with large icons. I changed the skin of the program (the way it looks) and changed the background of the charts. Those were easy things.

1 - Getting Started with Beyond Charts
After a recommendation from Rick Klink from Paritech I had a meeting with Sean Baker from Beyond Charts. Sean was kind enough to give me an overview of the charting software that his team has developed called Beyond Charts. I thought I would take this opportunity to blog about the experience I have in reviewing the software. Over time, I'll add screen shots and helpful videos about the software and hopefully I can get some feedback from anyone who is reading this blog. Since this is my first post, I will make it short as I need to download the software onto my computer.
